The New Griswold’s Hawaii Vacation…

August 12th, 2010
Just got back from a great trip to Hawaii with Nancy and all the kids. Obviously, they are not kids anymore, and so I get to spend time being more in a dad/ growing adult child relationship. Conversations are longer. Deeper issues of life are explored. There is a lot of laughter (Example- Sign on Waikiki Beach: "Don't Feed The Birds"/ Greg's immediate response: "Oh, yeah, what if I feed them knowledge?")

Everyone in their various roles (mom, dad, husband, wife, daughter, sister, son, brother) is experimenting with wider boundaries of "graciousness" towards each other. Studying a "body language" book together and then following up with "research" on each other is a highlight. Angry brows and all!

Thanks Nancy, Kristina, Greg and David for allowing me into your space a bit more. You are so loved.

Look inside…

Are you an introspective person? Do you actually pause, at any point in your day, and ask yourself, "Just what am I doing and why?"

What is the answer you get?

As I follow the God the Father, I have to figure he wants me to know what's going on. It isn't good parenting to ignore your kids, try to confuse them, or lie to them. Clear communication is such a basic fundamental.

So, why would my heavenly Father be a lousy parent? He wouldn't.

If you want to know what to make of your life, then there are really two key questions.  Pastor Mike Breen says it this way:

  1. What is Jesus saying to you (as you worship, pray, read the Bible, spend time with your friends and spouse, play with and discipline your kids, play sports, watch TV…) and-
  2. What are going to do in response?
Start here…
End here…

Voila! You are an introspective person.
